Abstract

Effective communication, collaboration, and coordination among teams are vital for successfully executing flight operations. Aim of the study is to assess the intra-team communication, coordination, and collaboration skills of cabin crew candidates, to understand their sense of belonging aimed at fostering team spirit, and to evaluate their awareness of acting as a cohesive unit. An ancillary objective of the study is to determine whether the demographic characteristics demonstrate statistically significant differences concerning the research variables. In light of these objectives, quantitative research methods were employed, utilizing a face-to-face survey technique that included a scale encompassing five main dimensions: collaboration, communication, team flexibility, sense of belonging, and team competencies. Primary data were obtained from 387 participants who were in the position of cabin crew candidates, accessed through convenience sampling in the airline industry. The acquired data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical software package. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that cabin crew candidates exhibited high levels of team dynamics, including belonging, collaboration, communication, and flexibility, as well as overall team skills. Correlation analysis revealed positive and significant relationships among these variables. In light of these findings, certain inferences and evaluations are expected to contribute to both the literature and the practice of civil aviation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
