Abstract

The objective of the research is to identify the dimensions, elements and characteristics that integrate traditional knowledge (TK) present in a network of peasant farmers from seven communities in the state of Guerrero, this aims to obtain information on how TK can contribute to building food sovereignty in a region. The methodology is qualitative, based on fieldwork and a comprehensive document review, supported by the Atlas Ti software, for data organization and analysis. The results show that, in the case of seven communities in the State of Guerrero, three dimensions of TK are identified: social dimension, time dimension and subjective dimension; all of them formed by various elements (they are interactive, oral, practical, cultural, adaptable, generational, subjective/mystical and variable by gender). The limitations are related to the scope of the results, since they focus exclusively on seven communities in a given region. It is concluded that, in the case of the locations analyzed, the dimensions and elements of TK that they have can contribute to the construction of a long-term food sovereignty, thanks to the knowledge, techniques and experiences possessed, that are aligned with the principles of food sovereignty.
