Abstract
- The article explores the accuracy of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) with 5-aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride (5-ALA) for detecting non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) compared to white light (WL) imaging. The study found that PDD with 5-ALA had a higher sensitivity for detecting NMIBC, especially for flat tumors, but had lower specificity compared to WL imaging. The analysis utilized data from a phase III trial to determine the diagnostic accuracy of PDD for specific anatomical locations and tumor types, providing valuable insights for surgeons making clinical decisions.
