Abstract
- In Ecuador, the Organic Law of Citizen Participation and Social Control promotes the right to participation of all citizens, with the purpose of promoting greater intervention in urban and rural areas. The objective of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the citizen participation of women in the protection of their rights in the El Coca parish. In this research, the qualitative approach was chosen, and the interview and observation was applied to 20 women from the El Coca parish and five variables were analyzed regarding the participation of women in the protection of their rights in this community. Among the main results and conclusions are that the factors that influence the citizen participation of women in the protection of their rights in the El Coca parish are directly related to the prejudices and gender stereotypes of a sexist model that leads the community, barriers sociocultural and psychological conditions that limit their participation in the protection of their rights, few opportunities to access important management positions, roles assumed for household tasks and not public life, needs for greater orientation and education of their rights and the social visualization of the same in each parish space.
