Abstract

The article discusses a study on severe asthma patients in Italy, focusing on the use of biomarkers to guide biologic treatment. The study identified three distinct patient clusters based on baseline biomarker levels, showing different characteristics and responses to biologics. Class 3, the hypereosinophilic subgroup, had the best improvement in asthma control and exacerbations. The study highlights the importance of biomarker-based phenotyping in clinical practice and suggests that additional factors can refine biologic selection beyond traditional classifications.
