Abstract
- The article focuses on the photograph "The Belles of San Luis Rey" and its significance in Deborah Miranda's "Bad Indians: A Tribal Memoir." Topics include the dehumanizing representation of California Indians through the lens of colonization, the role of storytelling in preserving Native history, and the ways in which Miranda challenges the myth of Indigenous disappearance by offering a Luiseño-centered perspective on the lives of these women.
