Abstract

Abstract: The electrical conductivity and the conductivity relaxation of the glass system xCdI2-(100− x)[2Ag2O–(0.7V2O5–0.3B2O3)] were studied in the temperature range from 303K to just below the glass transition temperature and in the frequency range from 100Hz to 10MHz. The ionic conductivity of the system is found to increase with increase in the dopant content and maximum value is obtained for 30mol% of CdI2 doped system. The impedance data is analyzed in the modulus formalism. The ionic conductivity and conductivity relaxation calculated from impedance and modulus spectra, respectively, were found to be thermally activated and the activation energy obtained from both measurements are comparable. The value of the β parameter has been found out and a comparative study of the impedance and modulus spectrum indicate the non-Debye type of frequency dispersion in the mixed system.
