Abstract

This paper presents a millimeter-wave (mm-wave) 2-element MIMO antenna with characteristics such as gain, bandwidth, cross-polarization, and mutual coupling controlled by pixelated parasitic patches and a defected ground structure (DGS). Using optometric analysis, the separation between the radiating patch and the initial pixels is fixed, with additional parasitic patches placed at the same distance. The antenna operates over 25.7 to 42 GHz, achieving a 49.39% fractional bandwidth. It has a gain range of 3.2 to 6.35 dBi, peaking at 10.2 dBi. The isolation between elements exceeds 17.2 dB, and cross-polarization improves by 7 dB in both E-plane and H-plane radiations. Measured results closely match simulated results.
