3000 Hours: From MSW to LCSW.

This paper is a summary of the requirements that a social worker with a Masters' in Social Work must meet to become independently licensed in a given state or jurisdiction in the United States. These requirements and the titles that are used by a given state for a fully licensed clinical social worker vary by state. A review of the experience hours that are required under approved supervision; the direct supervision hours that are required by an approved supervisor; the number of direct contact hours that are required by some states; and the examination that must be passed to become an independent clinical social worker will be discussed.
