Doñana has long been a symbol of the fight for nature conservation, both in Spain and internationally, yet the area faces constant threats, particularly from the exploitation of its water resources. What started out as local conflicts quickly escalate into issues of global concern. This paper examines the evolution of Doñana and the recent challenges, such as illegal exploitation of wells and drought, which jeopardize its survival.
