Abstract

The article discusses the impact of acquired acromion compromise, such as thinning and fragmentation, on outcomes after reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). While acromial stress fractures are a known complication of RSA, the study found that patients with preoperative acromial compromise did not have worse outcomes in terms of functional scores or risk of stress fractures. Surgeons are advised not to hesitate in performing acromioplasty due to fear of increased fracture risk, and further research is needed to identify biomechanical risk factors for stress fractures after RSA.
