Abstract
- This study was conducted during the period February 2022 until mid May for the same year. 272 carp fish Cyprinus carpio were collected from the local fishing farm from AL-Mashab and Harerr marshes in Basrah province, south of Iraq, to detect the crustacean ecto-parasites of Lernaea sp. The crustacean parasites were isolated from the abdominal, gills, back and fins by the eye and microscopical examination. The prevalence and intensity of infection were (37.8, 4.2%) respectively in culturing carp fishes. The results of the study showed increased infection of fishes with more than one parasite with increased length of fishes. During the present study, it was noticed the surface of the fish body belongs to pathogenic effects that are caused by these parasites in the infection region. Statistically, there are no significant differences in the prevalence of infection in infected fishes. In conclusion, it was found that the infection with Lernaea Sp. parasites increases with the length of fish and cause to occur many skin ulcers in infected fish, [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
