Abstract
- Papillary thyroid carcinoma, the most common subtype of thyroid malignancy, rarely presents with ulcerated cutaneous spread. Given the rarity of such a clinical presentation, the diagnosis may be delayed and often the initial diagnosis may be incorrect. Few case reports have been published in the literature noting unusual or interesting presentations of thyroid carcinomas with cutaneous spread. A case of a 60-year-old female who presented with an ulcerated anterior neck lesion, who was investigated fully radiologically and histopathologically and went through intricate surgical and adjuvant treatment following the diagnosis of papillary carcinoma thyroid presenting with ulcerated cutaneous lesion is being discussed here.
