Abstract
- This study aims to establish a comparison between the machinability performance of CNC turned HCHCR D2 steel using a proprietary CrTiN PVD-coated tool and that of an uncoated HSS tool. The goal of this study is to establish a comparison between the two. The evaluation is being done with the intention of improving MRR (material removal rate) Specific instructions and materials are as follows: The construction was carried out with HCHCR D2 tool steel, and the cutting was carried out with new CrTiN-PVD tools that were either coated or uncoated. Both of these tools were used interchangeably. The cutting speed (measured in metres per minute), feed (measured in millimetres per revolution), and depth of cut (measured in millimetres) are the characteristics that are provided as inputs in the experimental investigation that is currently being conducted. Eighteen samples are included in each category. There were a total of 32 samples that were gathered from the two sets of experimental research equipment that were made of HCHCR D2 steel. In one of the groups, a one-of-a-kind CrTiN PVD coating was present, however in the other group, there was no such coating present. Eighty percent was chosen as the power level, and this was used to determine the size of the sample group. During the process of machining HCHCR D2 tool steel, it was revealed that the feed rate had the most significant impact on the material removal rate on the new CrTiN PVD coated tool. This was the most important finding. Nevertheless, the depth of cut had a significant influence on both the cutting force and the cutting power. This was something that was seen. To establish whether or not the material removal rate produces a result that is statistically significant, the p-value must be less than 0.05, which is the critical value. If the p-value is 0.000, then the result is statistically significant (both 2-tailed). While cutting high strength steel HCHCR D2, the material provides a high rate of material removal. This is accomplished by the utilisation of Novel (CrTiN) PVD coated tool uncoated HSS tool inserts on the cutting tool. This rate is raised by an average of 17.23 percent as compared to the utilisation of traditional tool inserts that are not coated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
