Abstract

The word proper to theology in the question of evil is neither ponerology nor theodicy, but soteriology. Evil acquires its true meaning in a profound theology of salvation which integrates the doctrine of creation, Christology and eschatology. For this reason, Christian theology tries to understand evil in the context of salvation history, which has its origin in the Father's plan, its realization through the Son and its perfection through the action of the Spirit. Christian faith and theology confront the reality of evil with the hope that Christ's resurrection gives us, while we walk by the power and action of the Spirit who leads us to definitive beatitude.
