Abstract

Academic publishing can feel like a labyrinth where authors encounter varied, often inconsistent gatekeepers: the Confused Reviewer, the Rational Reviewer, the Lazy Reviewer, and the Traumatized Reviewer.. Each type introduces its unique challenges, from misplaced critiques to sharp, competitive assessments or vague, minimal feedback. These interactions highlight a paradox in the review process, which, instead of solely fostering scientific rigor, often becomes an unpredictable journey shaped by random, sometimes humorous obstacles. Addressing these challenges is essential for creating a fairer, more constructive environment for new researchers in academia.
