Abstract

The article discusses how educators at Northwest Education Services Career Tech in Traverse City, Michigan, shifted from using standardized test scores to local data to inform classroom instruction and teacher evaluations. By collecting and analyzing data based on vital skills for student success, teachers were able to make curriculum and instructional adjustments leading to student growth. The process involved four steps: local data collection and analysis, classroom-level adjustments, instructional coaching, and schoolwide summits. Teachers reported positive impacts on student growth and engagement, emphasizing the importance of using local data for meaningful instruction in career and technical education.
