Abstract
- The Shiite sects that which include ijmāʿ among the evidence in the deduction of judgment, have made different definitions for ijmāʿ. When the definitions are taken into consideration, it is seen that each sect defined ijmāʿ differently to reflect its own understanding. For example, the Zaydis, who consider the unanimity of the ummah and the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt on the ruling of an issue within the scope of ijmāʿ, define ijma as the unanimity of the righteous mujtahids of the ummah on any issue at any time after the Prophets death. On the other hand, the Jaʿfarītes, who limit ijma to the opinions of the innocent imams, define it as the verbal or actual unanimity of those whose fatwas are valid on a matter of sharia. The Isma'ilites, who do not accept ijmāʿ as evidence, do not have a definition for ijma. In this study, which deals with the views of S̲h̲īʿite sects on ijmāʿ, the views of the Cafari, Zaydi and Ismaili sects, which have survived until today, on ijmāʿ are included. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
