Abstract

The article discusses the interruption of oral hypoglycemic agents, specifically SGLT-2 inhibitors, before pediatric surgery to prevent diabetic ketoacidosis. Recent guidelines recommend holding SGLT-2 inhibitors for at least three days before surgery to reduce the risk of postoperative ketoacidosis. The use of SGLT-2 inhibitors in pediatric patients with diabetes is increasing, and anesthesiologists need to be aware of the potential risks and management strategies associated with these medications.
