Caracterización de sitios de interés geológico para el desarrollo geoturístico en los cayos del norte de Ciego de Ávila.

The cays north of Ciego de Ávila are home to resources and geological sites of scientific, educational, socio-economic and aesthetic interest, which can be managed for their heritage value. The research identifies and characterizes 13 geosites from these cays for diagnosing their state and conservation. Gutiérrez-Domech methodology was implemented for evaluating parameters with their weighted classification, in order to define measures that facilitate the care of these geosites. Of the 13 geosites, four are considered to be of class A, so they must have a greater protection and a local or national heritage category; among them, for its unique characteristics, stands out the Dunes of Playa Pilar. Class B points were found, on which a form of management should be established and if a local heritage category is feasible. The remaining four geosites classify as class C and should receive attention from local authorities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
