El registro de fray Diego Basalenque (1640): notas en torno a la toponimia matlatzinca y purépecha.

In this article we present a historical and linguistic analysis of a list of place names in Matlatzinca, which make up a part of an unpublished manuscript written by the friar Diego Basalenque in 1640. The document consists of an abbreviated art of the Matlatzinca language, a completed art, and word lists on different topics of great interest like a list of place names. The list includes terms in Matlatzinca and Purepecha, as well as some in Nahuatl, and its analysis provides historical information about the Matlatzincas in eastern Michoacán, as well as linguistic and sociolinguistic information.
