In this article we highlight some of the anthropological themes that Stein explored in his phenomenological analysis of youth and, particularly, in the essay Psychic Causality: motivation, as the emergence of one act from another; basic acts and free acts, with special reference to acts of faith and love; feelings in their relationship with values; the core of personality. The biographical context is taken into account, which partly justifies the interest in the research, and it is shown how this constitutes a foundation from which Stein's exploration in theological anthropology springs after his conversion. The conclusions highlight an anthropological vision focused on the revaluation of the sphere of affections and the tension between freedom and grace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
