Abstract

Introduction. In Peru, a deep political and institutional crisis has been evident, as a consequence of the weakening of democracy and acts of corruption, generating a crisis of representativeness, leading to mistrust and citizen disagreement towards the powers of the State, creating power vacuums and instability. democratic. Objective. To analyze the political crisis in Peru and the deterioration of Peruvian representative democracy. Materials and Methods. An exhaustive search was carried out in databases of indexed journals such as: Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo, Redalyc. Results. The institutional crisis in Peru is largely associated with the moral and ethical crisis of people who perform public functions. Conclusions. Power and democracy are in conflict when political and governmental authorities corrupt power and do not act in accordance with the principles that inspire every State, corruption being one of the main causes of the institutional crisis, bringing with it deterioration. of democracy and delegitimization of its rulers.
