Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyse the physical quality of a Planosols in the semi-arid environment under integrated and conventional agricultural production systems after eight years of management and to observe if the physical properties of the soil under grazing respond differently to the production systems assessment. The experiment has been carried out since 2015 in Alagoinha, Paraíba, on a Planosols. The treatments were composed of: Urochloa decumbens + Ipê (BI); Ur. decumbens + Gliricídia (BG); Ur. decumbens + sabiá (BS); Ur. decumbens + milho (L) and Ur. decumbens (B). Soil samples were collected in 2022 in the 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm depth layers to determine soil bulk density (Bd), total porosity (TP), macroporosity (Mac), microrosity (Mic) and saturated hydraulic conductivity (K0). The data was subjected to analysis of variance and principal component analysis (PCA) (p<0.05). The results showed that there was no difference (p<0.05) between the treatments evaluated, but BI and B showed considerable K0 on the surface 7.5 and 3.1 cm h-1, respectively. Mac was restrictive in all treatments in the 0-10 cm layer, with average values <0.10 m3 m-3. It can be concluded that the physical quality of the soil under grazing is the same between integrated and conventional (pasture) agricultural production systems after a period of eight years.
