Abstract

Indonesian Essential Oil Council said that 40 types of Indonesian essential oils are traded, around 12 of which have been exported to world markets. Increasing demand patterns provide opportunities for essential oil production. A variety of raw materials are available, providing opportunities to produce essential oils. Research on the addition of essential oil types needs to be carried out in Indonesia to meet the demand for quantity and quality. One of them is the raw material for robusta coffee leaves as the main ingredient for essential oils. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach to explain and analyze the phenomena that have been obtained during the research. A descriptive approach was used to explain the production process. A quantitative approach was used to analyze the value-added of robusta coffee leaf essential oil. Production of robusta coffee leaf essential oil was carried out using the rotary evaporator method. Production of robusta coffee leaf essential oil begins with picking robusta coffee leaves, drying, milling, methanol extraction, alcohol extraction, and water extraction. Picking robusta coffee leaves takes 8 hours. One production process cycle takes 6.5 hours. The results of the value-added test show that the production of coffee leaf essential oil has value-added in the high category with a profit rate of 86%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
