Abstract
- In this article, we aim to analyze the implications of the concept of wonder for plant thinking. To do so, we will begin by examining how this concept is articulated with a critique of the scientistic notion that plants should be seen as mere secondary, passive, and decorative beings. On the contrary, the idea of wonder calls for a new perspective on the plant world, acknowledging the organic richness of plants in their relationship with the world, their own modes of existence, and their marvelous life initiatives, which testify -- as proposed by the German philosopher Hans Jonas -- to their inner life. It is this criterion that will lead to the recognition of the plant as a "paradigm of the living." Ultimately, the acknowledgment of plant wonder materializes as an ethical effort within philosophical thought to allow plant beings to thrive (far from mere objectification). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
