Abstract
- Gender inequalities of women working in the popular economy (PE) are often marked by unpaid care tasks, the modality of their economic income and by their educational credentials. This paper studies the case of living and working conditions of women fairground workers belonging to the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE) of Santiago de Estero (Argentina), with special attention to the impact of covid 19. The methodology applied is qualitative, conducting indepth interviews in July 2022 with 5 women between the ages of 27 and 54 with family and community care burdens, and with a career of more than 5 years in their stalls as fair vendors in Barrio Villa de Carmen and Reconquista of the capital city of Santiago de Estero (Argentina) and linked to the "Potenciar Trabajo" Program. The results confirm the unequal overload of care work borne by women in the popular economy, and that one of their strategies is to form networks of collaborative solidarity in the community.
