Abstract
- The article explores racial disparities in dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) patients in the United States, with Black patients facing a higher risk of disease-specific mortality and larger tumor sizes compared to White patients. Using the SEER database, the study found that non-White patients, particularly Black individuals, presented with tumors located on the trunk and required more radiation therapy. Multivariate analysis revealed that identifying as Black independently increased the risk of disease-specific mortality. The study emphasizes the need for improved screening and prevention strategies for DFSP in populations of color, especially Black patients, to address the observed poorer survival outcomes.
