Abstract
- This essay tries to analyze the similarities between the two nights spent by Renzo and Lucia (respectively in chapter XVII and XXI of The Betrothed) considering them as two moments of reflection and change for the two protagonists. Indeed Renzo and Lucia, too, are subject to metanoia and in their silent conversions, which don't even seem such, may be felt the echo of Alessandro Manzoni’s conversion, which, in turn, has always been shrouded in a veil of confidentiality and mystery.
