Abstract
- [Objective] To study the chemical composition and differences between male and female odor gland secretions of Plautia stali metathorax. [Method] A solid-phase microextraction device coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to determine and analyze the chemical composition of the metathorax odor gland secretions of the female and male insects of Plautia stali. [Result] There were a total of 38 compounds in the metathorax odor gland secretions of Plautia stali.Among them, 35 compounds were detected in the metathorax odor gland secretions of the females, and 19 compounds were detected in the metathorax odor gland secretions of the males.There were a total of 16 compounds shared between females and males, with 19 compounds only present in females and 3 compounds only present in males. [Conclusion] There are significant differences in the types of compounds in the metathorax odor gland secretions between females and males of Plautia stali. The chemical composition of the metathorax odor gland secretions in females was more complex than that in males, which may be related to the more complex physiological and ecological functions of the metathorax odor gland secretions in females.
