Trends of e-learning in science education: A bibliometrics analysis of the recent two decades of research.

Abstract

Science education plays an important role in the development of ICT. ICT application trends; especially e-learning in science education needs to be explored to gain insight in further research. Using the PRISMA method combined with VOS-viewer through Scopus data collection, 310 articles were evaluated. Evaluation is carried out by analyzing the number of publications, countries, citations, journals, and e-learning collaborations in science learning. Co-occurrence mapping is also explored by analyzing knowledge maps. The research results show an increase in the number of articles each year and the USA is the country with the most articles published. Additionally, mobile apps for science learning is research with the most citations, computers and education is journals with the most publications, and the USA and China work is the most popular collaboration. The keywords with the most occurrences are students, education, teaching, science education, and computer science education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
