Abstract

A study published in the British Journal of Surgery found that there is widespread non-adherence to guidelines for the surgical management of diabetes-related foot complications. The study examined the practices and outcomes of diabetic foot surgery and found that overall compliance with recommended practices was moderate. The study suggests that the complexity of the guidelines and the low certainty of evidence may contribute to the deviation from recommended practices. The authors emphasize the need to improve guideline adherence and conduct further research to strengthen the evidence supporting international guidelines for diabetic foot management.
