Indicadores para medir la calidad de la atención en los centros residenciales para personas mayores de Álava. Resultados de un estudio piloto.

The Provincial Council of Álava has carried out a pilot study to evaluate the quality of care in residential centers for the elderly. Indicators have been validated to measure quality in collaboration with service providers. More than 70 professionals from public and private centers have participated in the project. The study has analyzed different indicators, such as falls, pressure ulcers, and physical restraints, and has found significant associations between some of these variables. It is concluded that the indicators used can be valid for comparing the quality of care in residential centers, but adjustments must be made in the collection of information and in the definition of the indicators.
