On the Way to Full Communion: Thinking about Christian Unity from Liturgy: A Statement from Seminar on the Way North American Academy of Liturgy Peter and Paul, Apostles June 29, 2023.

A seminar of the North American Academy of Liturgy met to explore how understanding of liturgy can contribute to church unity between Lutherans and Catholics. The seminar participants, including Lutherans, Roman Catholics, and others, focused on Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry as fundamental issues. They found that there is agreement on the meaning and practice of baptism, the real presence in the Eucharist, and the nature of ministry. The seminar concluded that there should be no obstacle to eucharistic sharing and no significant obstacles to the mutual recognition of ministries between Lutherans and Roman Catholics.
