Abstract

This article explores the ethical dilemmas that arise in product development and the release of unsafe products. It provides examples of the Stint electric cargo bike, Philips respiratory ventilators, and Boeing's 737 MAX airplanes to illustrate how the pressure to compete in the market can compromise safety and quality. The author argues for the importance of ethical leadership, a culture of quality, and responsible product development. They also call for increased training in ethics and leadership for those involved in technology development. Additionally, the article discusses the challenges of regulating next-generation, AI-powered product ecosystems and raises concerns about the potential societal and health impacts of incorporating AI into products. The author emphasizes the need for a cautious and responsible approach to product development. [Extracted from the article]
