Summary The neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin play a central role in the feeling of happiness. Throughout the history of mankind, new chemical substances which positively affect happiness kept being produced in ever higher concentrations and quantities. All these substances have disadvantages, especially in longterm use and bring only deceptive happiness. By no means, however, the acutely more toxic substances claim the most victims. The attempt is to avoid the use of artificially added happy drugs and stimulants and to rely on natural hormones of happiness instead or to reduce consumption and make use of the body's own substances.
