Abstract

This article discusses a rare case of allergic contact dermatitis caused by bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, also known as Tinosorb S, which is a commonly used UV filter in sunscreens. The case involves a 37-year-old woman who experienced a rash and itching after applying two different sunscreens containing Tinosorb S. Patch tests confirmed a positive reaction to the ingredient provided by one manufacturer, highlighting the importance of verifying hapten concentrations. The article suggests that bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine may become an emerging allergen in sunscreens due to its increasing use by cosmetics manufacturers.
