Abstract

A 52-year-old woman with a history of chronic kidney disease and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) developed trichosporonosis while being treated with mycophenolic-acid and prednisone. She exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with methylprednisolone, amphotericin-B, and voriconazole for trichosporonosis or SLE. Despite receiving treatment, her condition worsened, leading to refractory septic shock and multi-organ failure, ultimately resulting in her death. The case highlights the challenges in treating trichosporonosis and the potential lack of efficacy of certain medications in this context. [Extracted from the article]
