Abstract

The article reflects on social and solidarity economy as a central aspect that goes beyond the practice of organizing to produce, distribute, circulate, and consume goods. It raises the need to decolonize social economy and build it from popular economy, overcoming the colonial, patriarchal, and racist wounds produced by modernity. Various authors who address the topic are mentioned, such as Maristella Svampa, Enrique Dussel, and Rita Segato. In addition, imperialism and competition are criticized as economic stances, and the concept of development imposed by the United States during the Cold War is questioned. The article concludes by pointing out that growth and competition in the neoliberal market have not generated a better quality of life for millions of people. [Extracted from the article]
