Abstract

According to a recent study published in Nature Communications, the Florida Current, a key ocean current that is part of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), has been relatively stable in recent decades. This contradicts previous beliefs that the current was weakening, which had led to concerns about the potential collapse of the AMOC due to climate change. However, the study's data only spans a few decades, so it is still uncertain whether the AMOC has slowed since preindustrial times. The revised dataset does not alter our understanding of the AMOC's long-term evolution. [Extracted from the article]
