Abstract
- A study published in Systematic Reviews by Zhi et al. explores the use of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) as a diagnostic tool for sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). The study found that SAE patients had significantly higher levels of serum NSE compared to septic patients without encephalopathy. Higher levels of serum NSE were associated with increased mortality rates and adverse neurological outcomes. While the study provides valuable insights, further research is needed to fully understand the relationship between NSE and SAE. [Extracted from the article]
