Abstract

A 72-year-old woman with a history of primary myelofibrosis, Crohn's disease, hypertension, gout, renal insufficiency, and splenomegaly experienced treatment failure with ruxolitinib. Despite being on ruxolitinib for splenomegaly, she continued to experience fatigue and abdominal discomfort. She developed thrombocytopenia, anaemia, oedema, dizziness, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Ruxolitinib failed to reduce spleen size, leading to its discontinuation and the woman's hospitalization. She underwent splenectomy after multiple blood transfusions, and her postoperative period was uneventful. [Extracted from the article]
