Abstract
- A case report published in Reactions Weekly describes a woman in her mid-60s who developed bilateral acute angle closure glaucoma after taking a widely available over-the-counter decongestant containing guaifenesin/paracetamol/phenylephrine for cold symptoms. The woman had a history of narrow anterior chamber angles and had previously undergone bilateral peripheral iridotomies. After taking the medication, she experienced bilateral eye pain and headache, and her intraocular pressure was significantly elevated. Treatment with acetazolamide, dexamethasone, and pilocarpine improved her condition, and she was advised to avoid the medication in the future. [Extracted from the article]
