Abstract
- The article explores the issue of sexual harassment and assault in the field of professional philosophy and discusses the possibility of punishing philosophers who engage in such behavior. It argues that punishment can be justified within the professional context and norms of the discipline. The text suggests that the philosophical community should take responsibility for punishing members who violate professional norms, and proposes the use of shunning as a form of punishment. The author emphasizes the importance of careful consideration, procedural justice, and the ultimate goal of encouraging reflection, recompense, and behavior change. [Extracted from the article]
