Abstract
- Collaboration has been integral to special education almost since its inception, a topic explored in a JEPC special issue in 2010. This introduction reprises the topic through the lens of 15 years gone by. The article briefly reviews collaboration essentials, analyzes its breakthroughs and advances, and explores its disappointments and setbacks, offering a perspective on the critical need for pre-professional and interprofessional learning and systemic change. Finally, it overviews the five articles in the special issue outlining contemporary applications and the future of collaboration in special education, along with the closing commentary.
