Abstract

This article discusses the use of a 4-mm-wide double scalpel in dermatologic surgery. The double scalpel with a 4-mm separation between the blades allows for the retrieval of 90° homogeneous surgical pieces, which are ideal for processing and collection in pathology cassettes. This scalpel is particularly useful for the excision of lesions with margins greater than 2 mm, such as large or high-risk basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, Merkel cell carcinomas, and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. The main limitation of this scalpel is the lack of experience and limited marketing, but it offers potential benefits in margin-controlled micrographic surgery. [Extracted from the article]
