This paper’s objective is to examine recent reforms in China’s foreign trade regime and the rationales for the reforms. It asks following questions: How and why has China reformed its foreign trade regime before China’s accession to the WTO? What commitments has China made in its accession to the WTO? How will China’s accession to WTO change its foreign trade regime? Will China abide by its commitments in its accession to the WTO?
