Abstract

The U.S. Air Force is reclaiming the remote island of Tinian in the Pacific as it prepares for potential conflict with China. Tinian, which played a strategic role in World War II, is being revived under the Air Force's Agile Combat Employment concept. The project aims to enhance the airfield's capacity to handle routine and contingency operations, supporting the U.S.'s efforts to deter or defeat the Chinese military. The reclamation work includes restoring degraded pavement, clearing overgrown areas, and expanding the airfield and surrounding facilities. The U.S. military's focus on Tinian is part of its broader strategy to counter China's growing threat in the Asia-Pacific region. [Extracted from the article]
