Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of women's empowerment on gender perception at a descriptive level 426 women who received services from Family Centers affiliated to Ankara Mamak Municipality and who agreed to participate in the study participated in the research. Sociodemographic form, Women Empowerment Scale and Perception of Gender Scale were used as data collection tools. The mean score of the Women Empowerment Scale used in this study was I.66±.I48. The participants' mean score on the Women's Ability to Act Independently Scale, which is one of the subscales of the Women Empowerment Scale, was 2.00±.188, the mean score on the Freedom from Family Pressure Subscale was I.88±.2O5, and the mean score on the Economic Security and Contribution Scale was 1.77±.274. The mean score obtained from the Perception of Gender Scale was 2.8I±.335. According to the findings, marital status and marriage type of the participants are effective on their gender perception levels. There is a statistical difference between marital status, marriage type and age at first marriage and women's empowerment. It was observed that there was a positive, strong and significant relationship between women's ability to act independently and gender perception (r=.7O2, p<.00I).
