Abstract

Introduction and purpose: Anxiety, as a part of modern human life, exists in all individuals in a moderate degree and is considered as an adaptive response to environmental stimuli. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between the activity of behavioral brain systems and anxiety sensitivity with the mediating role of metacognitive beliefs. became. Methodology: Methodology: The study population consists of all students of universities in Zahedan city between the winter of 2020 and the spring of 2021. Among them, 371 students of different levels from associate degree to doctorate were selected by non-random and available (targeted) sampling method. And finally, they answered 3 questionnaires, Jackson's five factors, Reiss and Peterson's anxiety sensitivity questionnaire, Wells' metacognitive beliefs questionnaire. Findings: The results showed that the behavioral activation system has no effect on anxiety sensitivity. Also, there is a significant negative relationship between the behavioral inhibition system and the fight, flight, and freezing system and anxiety sensitivity. On the other hand, Hanshan's findings showed that there is a significant positive correlation between most of the components of metacognitive beliefs and anxiety sensitivity, including positive beliefs about worry, cognitive certainty, the need to control thoughts, and cognitive self-awareness. While in the uncontrollability and risk component, no association was found with anxiety sensitivity. P<05% Conclusion: The findings of the present study indicate that there is a relationship between the behavioral control system in the subscale of war, flight, and freezing, and there is a significant relationship between anxiety sensitivity and most of the cognitive beliefs.
